Lucille and Dede

Here are Lucille and her mother, who is widely known as Dede. Her full name is Desiree Evelyn Hunt Ball. Okay, it sounds weird.

They both look alike, beautiful and classy!

Lucille Ball is really a model daughter. The way she took care of her mother since she started work is really commendable.

So is Dede a model mother. She never stopped supporting Lucille emotionally and physically since Lucille's Hollywood days.

Lucille Ball Quote

I love this quote and I swear that I go by it. Everything does fall into place when I think only about things that are emotionally positive. Try it!

I Love Lucy

(Fred and Ethel Fight, season 1, episode 22)

What's My Line (1965)

This is a rare video of What's My Line in 1965 with Lucille Ball as the mystery guest. It was the last of all 6 appearances.

Notice her expression when being asked if she was married to an entertainer just as well known as her. That momentarily sadness just makes me so sad. It's obvious that she thought of Desi Arnaz first, then Gary Morton, then answered no. When the same question was asked some 10 years ago, her answer was yes.

Rest in peace, Lucy. You deserve to be happy and I hope you are now.

Lucy and her Children

Lucille Ball often brought her children Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. to the I Love Lucy set.

It's no wonder their kids grew up to be such great artistes! Having being exposed to film making proves to be advantageous!

I Love Lucy Nail Art

I found this on Instagram. Isn't it cool! I'd love to get nail art like this too.

Young Lucy

Young Lucille Ball was already a beauty! She had her hair dyed blonde back then, and neither RKO nor MGM had found the right look for her.
It was years before that famous red hair and style was given to her, and of course, she stuck with it for more than a decade.

Desi Arnaz LOVED Lucy. Period.

Here's Desi Arnaz in his later years remembering Lucille Ball.
This is another evidence that he never stopped loving her. Whatever he had done, whatever she had done, the bottom line is that they loved each other.

Just because people file for divorce, it doesn't mean that the love doesn't exist anymore.

As the astute YouTubers say:
"Sometimes two hearts were born to be together, but not stay together"
"Desi's last known words were "I love you, Honey." Said to Lucy as he hung up the phone."

Just Married

Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball had barely known each other for 6 months when he proposed to her. It's amazing how love at first sight does really happen! Just think, Lucy had a steady boyfriend and fiance, director Alexander Hall, and they had been together for years! She was also active in dating. Desi was like Elvis Presley in those days, he had dated beautiful blonde actresses such as Betty Grable. He had also fallen in love the first time with a girl he nicknamed Freckles and he wanted to marry her.

Why would the two of them give up the entire forest for a tree?

After their first night together (which didn't take long), Lucy phoned Al Hall and broke up with him, Desi did the same with Freckles.

"I'm sorry, Freckles. Please know that the last thing I ever want to do is to hurt you. You, of all people. I don't know why I'm doing this, it's so unnatural."

"Desi, nothing is unnatural. All things happen for a reason."

Little did Freckles know that she had created a prophecy. Indeed, all things happens for a reason. In this case, the thing is I Love Lucy.

The Most Beautiful Face on Earth

In my opinion, this face is the most beautiful on earth. I've never seen another one yet this natural, this simple, this unassuming, this moving, this happy, this blissful, this pleased.
The reflection of light from Lucille Ball Arnaz's eyes shows that she was crying, with elation of course. She was going to be a mother yet again, after 12 long years of marriage, it would seem like a miracle to her and Desi Arnaz. The tears weren't script, and the ending of Lucy is Enceinte from I Love Lucy sure as hell wasn't scripted. Desi started crying, and Lucy did too. They thought that they had loused up the film with their emotional outburst, but little did they know that this unscripted poignant version turned out to be so appealing, so human, so touching!

That's the expression of a loving wife, a loving mother, a mother-to-be, and a unsurpassable comedian!

Lucille Ball also happens to be the first pregnant woman shown on television.

Why is Lucille known as Lucy?

Desi Arnaz was the most romantic man ever. No wonder Lucy fell this deeply for him.
Both Desi and Lucille were very jealous and possessive people. They had always competed with each other over who could top who.

It was a difficult marriage right from the start because of their contrasting schedules. Desi was an orchestra leader and nightclub dancer and he worked from night till morning; on the other hand, Lucille was a Hollywood actress who worked from 6am to 6pm.

Like Lucy once said in an interview, "you cannot have babies over the telephone. You just can't do that."

However, when their lives were so intertwined throughout 6 seasons of I Love Lucy, they were around each other too much that their temperamental personalities and fiery tempers came between them, not to mention the stress that they had to face.

The marriage was doomed either way. As we all know, you can't spend too little or too much time with anyone. There needs to be a balance between. It's just that people in the 20th century didn't know that, neither did they know how to handle such problems nor talked about them.

Color Video

(Recycled)
Here's my first fan video of Lucille Ball! The videos have been gotten from A Home Video (for entertainment purposes only) but the pictures are rare!

I hope Lucy fans out there enjoy it:
Technically, this isn't really my first. I've created fan videos of her but because the files are too huge, I cannot upload them on YouTube.

President and Vice President of Desilu Productions

It is nothing, but the act of God, that brought these two people from different parts of the world together. It's as if God wants to give the human race something to laugh about.
It's destined that these two wonderful people would create I Love Lucy and leave the world a legacy. The president had a business acumen and a knack for revamping inferior scripts and adding value to good ones, the vice president had comedic talent. They made a wonderful team, and best of all, they loved each other.

Desilu? Is that French?

Once, a celebrity asked Desi Arnaz what the heck Desilu meant. "Is that French?" he asked.

Desi and Lucy were inspired by Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, who called their company, their home, their animals and everything Pickfair. They toyed with so many combinations, Ballarnaz (not quite), Arnazball (nah), Desi's Balls (hell, no!), Ludesi (still not quite)... and finally decided on Desilu.

For once, Desi Arnaz got the first billing and Lucy didn't mind at all. She knew Desi's need to establish himself as the man of the family and had always believed his talents would pay off one day.

She was right.

Do you know? I Love Lucy was executive produced and later directed by Desi Arnaz?

Do you know? Desi had the memory of an elephant, and by reading through an I Love Lucy script once, he could remember word-for-word? It used to drive Lucy crazy, who had struggled through many readings before conquering the script!

Let us remember this wonderful man who loved a wonderful and difficult lady, who made her a legend, who was not given any credit till years after his death.

Who's Funnier than Lucille Ball?

I love Desi Arnaz! I swear that he can be a funnier person than Lucille Ball, and everyone knows how hilarious I think she is. Lucy is funny within a script, Desi is funny outside a script. I mean come on, he screens and edits the scripts before giving them to Lucy, Vivian Vance and William Frawley. I bet you didn't know that!

At home, he is the star. Lucy is the quiet, reserved one.

I laughed till tears escaped from my tear ducts after watching this video!
"Oui, oui, monsieur..."
"Oui, oui, mon cherie..."

He says oui like "we", hence, Mr. Daly says "we the people". Ha ha!

Then he suddenly changes from a French accent to a British one with a "righto"!

He is so talented!

Nobody would have guessed that he is a Cuban!

I bet Lucy was laughing her ass off at home!

(I think Lucy had to eat her words up went he got home that night because she had always made fun of Desi Arnaz's accent!)
